Washington Ferry Session

I am obsessed with the Washington State Ferries. What a cool way to get out on the water, travel and visit a new place. The boats, water, and surrounding landscape (hello mountains!) make for great scenery.

Email to Book

What to expect from your session & FAQs

  • You can book a session by emailing me (emily@gully-studios.com) to discuss your vision for your session, dates, locations, and times. I love to hear why you are booking a session and what it looks like in your own mind so that I can bring it life.

  • I ask all of my clients to sign a contract at booking that asks you to acknowledge and agree to the date, session length, fee, gallery delivery and cancellation policy.

  • After booking your session, you will receive a questionnaire from me that will tell me more about you and your family. It also gives you a place to ask questions. I use your responses to help plan the session and will be in touch to discuss logistics over email, phone, or text - however you like to communicate best.

  • I am here to help bring your dream shoot to life. The production behind the shoot is half the fun for me. Based on your goals for the session, I create a mood board, find the ideal location, build Amazon lists of outfits, make shot lists, manage location logistics (e.g., ferry schedules, parking, tickets, etc.), and suggest props.

  • I do in-home sessions, work on location and offer sessions on my own property (our backyard feels like a park, our woods are a forest and we can walk to a river that is nearly private most days). If you do not have a location in mind for your session, I will help you find the perfect place.

  • I love a good candid photo, and I also swoon over a good posed shot. I put much pre-planning effort into creating shotlists and come ready with ideas for you. That said, we never just jump into photos, and I do not rush any shoots. At the start of the shoot, we will spend a little time warming up and getting a feel for the location, day, and ideas.

My style of photography is cinematic, and I love to direct clients. I let the sessions unfold while guiding you through a mix of posed portraits and letting candid moments happen.

If you’re feeling shy about having photos taken, I promise I will put you at ease.

  • It’s not the number of images or in your gallery, it’s the quality. I carefully curate the gallery to tell the story of your session, including only the best of the best images. You can expect your gallery to be a mix of portraits, candids, and detail shots. The number of images you receive depends on the length of the session and the location:

    • 1-hour sessions can expect between 60 and 100 images

    • 2-3 hour sessions can expect around 200 images.

    • All-day Tourist sessions can expect over 500 images.

  • You know you want photos, but how do you use them beyond posting on social media? Here are a few ideas:

    • Decorate your home with the faces of your family. Create gallery walls or use one-off images around the house.

    • Holiday cards

    • Create albums

    • Make ornaments

    • Annual calendars

    • Print them on a t-shirt!

  • I only use your photos with permission which is asked in both my contract and questionnaire. Some clients would like to approve which photos are used in which case I will send you a gallery of images that I would potentially use. If you prefer I not use them, they will not be used. I completely understand your privacy.

By default, I do not use names or tag clients in posts. If you would like to be mentioned or tagged, please let me know.

  • I typically do not allow cancellations, but do offer a flexible rescheduling policy up to 24 hours before the session.

Cancellations may be considered on a case by case basis and depend on the reason for canceling.
